A crochet stroller blanket starts with the caregiver’s intended use and the actual equipment, then a complete blanket pattern. There is no single dimension that fits every stroller. Choose a manageable size without assuming that a blanket is an approved stroller accessory.
A free moss stitch pattern to start with
With Love Modern Moss Stitch Baby Blanket by Daisy Farm Crafts provides the full written pattern and a video. Its published finished size is 32 × 37 inches. The materials list uses two balls of the main colour and one of the contrast colour in Red Heart With Love, with a 6.5 mm hook.
The designer also links a free PDF. Use those original instructions for the foundation, colour sequence, row endings and border. This page adds size and budget planning; it is not a separately tested stroller-blanket pattern.
Choose the finished dimensions before changing the chain
Ask the recipient what finished width and length they want and check the stroller manufacturer’s instructions. A paper rectangle or an existing blanket can help communicate the proposed size without buying yarn first. Avoid adding improvised ties or attachment loops.
Write the intended finished size, body size and border width separately. A two-inch border on each side adds four inches to both the body width and body length. For example, a 26-inch body with that border becomes approximately 30 inches wide.
Resize using a swatch and the designer’s repeat
- Work the actual moss-stitch repeat in your selected yarn.
- Wash and dry the sample according to its yarn label.
- Measure a central section and record how you counted stitches and spaces.
- Estimate the required body width, then adjust to the original pattern’s foundation rule.
- Check the width after the first few rows before continuing.

Budget the colours separately
If your chosen size uses the designer’s listed two main-colour balls and one contrast ball, and each costs an illustrative $6, the yarn purchase is $18 before tax and delivery. This example is arithmetic, not a current price quote or a claim that exactly three balls will fit every resized version.
A smaller blanket may still require buying a whole contrast ball. Record each colour’s required length, ball length and price in the yarn cost calculator. Use the swatch-based yarn estimate when the original pattern does not give your chosen size.
Check edges and washing before gifting
A border that ripples or pulls inward needs its stitch placement reviewed. Follow the designer’s corner instructions, lay the blanket flat regularly and recheck the final measurement after washing. Include the actual yarn’s care label with the gift.
Keep a blanket separate from a sun cover
